7. The Extreme Cat | J: John AllenThe Extreme Cat is second up here after a good first up run, with Johnny Allen retaining the ride. From barrier 6, we’ll look to ride him where he’s comfortable. He worked well in company during the week, and we’re confident he’ll run well but our data suggests he’ll improve again off this run and show better over further. Presents as a good top three chance, albeit the odds for an each-way bet are prohibitive at the time of writing.

7. Flying Emmy | J: John AllenAlso nominated for Cranbourne on Friday, Flying Emmy returns here with five weeks between runs. In a stop-start campaign, she steps back to the 1400m with Johnny Allen to ride. From a slightly tricky gate in barrier 7, we’ll look to be positive here so as not to spot the favourite too much of a lead. She worked well last week in company, with our data suggesting she’ll have taken great benefit. She’s fit and healthy but will need to improve markedly to beat the favourite here.

10. Mrs Chrissie | J: Ms Carleen HefelAfter a stop-start campaign, Mrs Chrissie returns to the races after two pleasing jumpouts, showing us those barrier issues are a thing of the past. From the wide draw, Carleen Hefel will need to assess the race, though we suspect we’ll be using her speed and being positive early. She’s a nice horse, ready to run well, with the wide barrier and a fragmented prep the only things working against her. All things going to plan, she’ll be fighting out the finish.

4. King Colorado | J: Ms Louise DayKing Colorado is a first starter out of Kingman, who has had three nice trials this time out. Today’s pilot, Louise Day, has the benefit of having partnered with him on two of those occasions. From barrier 1, the plan will be to use his speed and ride him positively but being his first run under race conditions, and without having a line of sight on many of these, this doesn’t present as a betting opportunity for us at the current quote.

1. Lalaguna | J: Zac LloydLalaguna returns to the races here, a month between runs with Zac Lloyd to ride. From barrier 4, the plan will be to ride her positively from the gate, having her in her customary forward position. She was disappointing last start, having previously run to within a length of the winner in three of her past four starts prior. From the gate, she’ll get every opportunity to break through for her maiden but will need to improve off her last run.

1. Flower Moon | J: Jason CollettWe elected to head here with Flower Moon, instead of Kensington on the Tuesday, citing the heavier conditions she seems to relish and the weaker field void of pace. From barrier 16 prior to scratchings, Jason Collett will look to be positive and push across to sit on the speed. She has been rather relaxed this prep, so we’ve elected to sharpen her up with the application of blinkers. She will need some luck in crossing, and the 61.5kgs on the heavy going will be testing, but this doesn’t appear to be a deep field.
