RACE 1

Returns to Moonee Valley after a pleasing performance last time out, beating home all-bar Title Fighter, who he again faces here. From the gate, we’ll look to be positive in a race that looks to have good speed. He looks a good top-three chance in what is a very open race, particularly with four last-start winners.

Barrier 2 with Beau Mertens on and blinkers applied, we’ll look to jump and be positive on Mantua, albeit we’re unlikely to match the gate speed of Title Fighter jumping from the marble. Again, this is a wide-open race, but he’s a nice horse in the making who we expect to improve on his last start.

Piastri is our third and final runner in the opener. From barrier 3 with Ben Allen aboard, we’ll have him where he’s comfortable, likely to be midfield. They may be a touch sharp for him over the 1000m, and he will need to improve to be fighting out the finish, but he is another nice horse in the making.
