Saturday sees the first Group 1 of the Winter Carnival as we head to Doomben for Doomben 10,000 Day. The stable doesn’t have a runner in the big one, but we are well represented in a few races across the day.

11. Self Indulgent | J: Ms Cejay GrahamSelf Indulgent was excellent at this track and distance a fortnight ago. She goes up in grade here, but with Cejay’s claim, she will carry just 52.5kgs. Her work since has been really good, and if she can get a nice run on the speed, we expect her to be very competitive again.

3. Count Da Beans | J: Ryan MaloneyCount Da Beans drops back to his own age group, after holding his own at Weight For Age in The Archer at Rockhampton last start. He maps to get a great run, and he only needs to replicate his close second in the Group 3 Vo Rogue Plate at this track and distance in the summer to be winning here.

6. Chairman | J: Damien ThorntonChairman was great behind Spirit Queen at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago. He should be able to find a good position from his midfield draw, and the step up to 1350m around Doomben should suit him. He proved he was up to this grade last start, and we expect him to run well again.

17. Argyle Pink | J: Ms Angela JonesArgyle Pink was very good when she stepped up in grade at Doomben a fortnight ago. She is much better placed in this Benchmark 80, and she only needs to hold her form to run well again here. The wide draw certainly makes things harder for her, but if she doesn’t have to do too much work early, she should be fighting out the finish.

2. Sneaky Five | J: James OrmanSneaky Five resumed with a nice run in the very strong Ascot Handicap at Eagle Farm a month ago. She jumped out well last Thursday at Deagon, and we are very happy with how she is going. The wide draw will make things difficult, but she will go back and be running on strongly. If they overdo it up front, she is a great each way chance.

14. Comrade Rosa | J: Kyle Wilson-taylorComrade Rosa finished her first preparation with the stable with two strong wins at Eagle Farm in February. She had a nice jump out two weeks ago at Doomben, and this looks like a nice race to resume in. She will likely settle worse than midfield and be very strong late. With the right run, she looks one of the main chances.

20. Typhoon Taavi | J: Damien ThorntonTyphoon Taavi backed up her terrific first-up win with a good run in stronger grade at Eagle Farm a fortnight ago. She comes back in trip and racing back at Doomben will suit her. She will go forward from the wide barrier, and even though this is a big step up in grade again, we believe she is up to black type races.
